Crab & Winkle Way Litter Pick (27th February)
It was a beautiful day to litter pick and the 5 of us achieved an awful lot. There were a huge variety of items collected from drink cans, bottles sweet and sandwich wrappers to items of clothing plus household mats, a kitchen bin,
a traffic cone and what we think is the top of a motorcycle box plus a long piece of hosepipe !!! Someone had dumped household rubbish which Marylyn and Sally did their best to clear but couldn’t get to all of it so I have informed the council about it. All in all it was a very successful hour and a half of time spent hopefully making a difference to our environment. Marylyn estimated the weight as a whole cattery full of cats !!!

Seasalter WI Annual Quiz (30th October)
TBWI acquitted itself well at the Seasalter WI's annual quiz fund raiser. Alison's team, one person short, won and Margaret's team came third from the ten teams competing. A good quiz, good cake and a very enjoyable evening.
Crab & Winkle Litter Pick (26th October)
Todays litter pick change of venue from Tankerton beach to The Crab & Winkle proved to be very productive in the sense that the volume of large numbers of discarded items that we collected was quite significant. There were 5 adults and Jane’s enthusiastic and determined granddaughter Hattie who bagged the star find of a parking cone ! There were lots of empty drinks cans, cartons, water bottles plus beer and wine bottles. Also sweet wrappers and crisp packets. Alarmingly there were filled dog poo bags in the undergrowth and bushes !!! Why pick up the dog poo, bag it then discard it along the route ? I estimate that we collected about 15kg of rubbish in about an hour which I feel is an excellent outcome. Many thanks to those who took part.

Beach Clean (26th September)
Todays beach clean went well, mainly because the weather was beautiful and the beach was reasonably clear of large items of litter, although there were lots of tiny bits of plastic, string and fishing line plus a babies dummy. The area of the slopes directly behind the boats that are stored there by Tankerton Bay sailing club did have quite a lot of sweet wrappers, empty takeaway food trays and what looked like discarded wet wipes to collect. Marylyn collected a number of discarded cigarette butts from around the benches at the top of the slopes. All in all a worthwhile way to spend time.
Based on the weight of Marylyn & PJ’s cat it was agreed that we collected between 8 to 10 kg !!!
September Walk (20th September)

Cream Tea at The Whitstable Golf Club (8th August)

Beach Clean (19th July)
Despite the rather wet start, there were a total of 5 of us who turned up to take part in the beach clean. After a short wait the rain cleared so we decided to go down onto the beach and start collecting. We found a variety of plastic bits and bobs, including cable ties, cotton bud sticks and a water bottle. Other items included, a pair of children’s sunglasses, a bottle of lip glaze a cup, sweet wrappers, bottle tops, pieces of cloth and bits of paper.
The beach was definitely cleaner when we finished !
